Description: Blitz is not a story about the conflict of World War II. The film focuses solely on London and how Nazi bombing has changed life there. Scenes of pure panic populate the film often, including a terrifying opening moment as air raid sirens blare and enemy planes circle overhead, inciting an escape into bleak everyday life as a population at the mercy of pre-war powers. The feeling persists – war orders are in, but they cannot help them. For Rita, such events are a reminder that George is not safe, and that a separation is necessary for which he is not entirely ready. There is a program that takes children to the countryside, but George doesn’t want to participate, which initially puts him at odds with his mother.
