Storyline: A Deadly American Marriage is a true story about a man named Jason Corbett. Jason was from Ireland. After the death of his first wife, he moved with his two young children to North Carolina, USA. Later, he met a woman named Molly Martens. They got married, and she helped take care of his kids. In 2015, something terrible happened. Jason was found dead in his bedroom. He had been hit with a brick and a metal bat. Molly and her father, Tom Martens, were there. Tom had worked for the FBI. They told the police they were trying to protect Molly because Jason was hurting her. The police looked at the house and found things that didn’t match their story. Jason’s family did not believe that he was a violent man. Molly and Tom were found guilty and sent to prison. But later, the court changed its decision. Molly and Tom made a deal. They said they were guilty of manslaughter, and they were let out of prison. This documentary shows real phone calls, videos of Jason, interviews with his family, and what happened in court.
