Description: Writer and filmmaker Alexis Jacknow made an intriguing decision, but it’s not fully successful. It’s a wise decision, to begin with, that tone of dark humor and satire, but regrettably, it doesn’t stick around. A modern subject was tackled, which raised hopes for an original manner, but what comes afterward hits more conventional horror notes, which is disappointing. Jacknow does an excellent job of expressing the social pressure and expectation that is placed on women to have children, but it seems that any complexity the book would have had to provide on the issue is drowned out by its overt stylistic choices and linear plot.
