Iron Lung a claustrophobic science fiction horror helmed by Mark Fischbach is the sort of nightmare one would not like to be trapped in under an alien ocean. The film tells the story of a lone prisoner who is sent on a very dangerous mission inside a rusted submarine that meanders through a sea of blood. Isolation feels overwhelming from the first scene . The deeper the vessel goes the more tension grows. But the real horror is what one cannot distinctly see. Fischbach creates fear through sound darkness and claustrophobia. Furthermore, the claustrophobic environment allows the character to experience both external dangers and fear of inner psychological states. It’s a movie of guilt survival and psychological breakdown; thus even the slightest movement presents danger. The pace remains taut, while suspense thickens with each passing second. Mid descent searching fans of afdah movies find Iron Lung between some intense indie horror releases. Overall 2026’s Iron Lung is relentless in tension stark in its visuals and hauntingly atmospheric well after the final frame.
