Description: The Bikeriders is told from the perspective of Kathy the young Vandals member Benny’s ardent girlfriend. She describes the quirks and wrongdoings of the gang from a distance, showing how it transforms from a surrogate family and blue-collar fraternity to a nihilistic criminal organisation. Even though Kathy’s disapproving chuckle is sometimes amusing, this conversational voiceover seems largely unnecessary. Acting as a welcome mat for a setting that is already quite recognisable it also contributes to the general artificiality of the scene by reducing the gang to clichés and allowing for just a cursory comprehension of their motivations.
