Description: In addition to being a love story, Bones and All is also a horror film, a road movie, and a story about community. Because Maren is a cannibal and unable to control her urges, we see her bite off a girl’s finger during a sleepover in 1988 while she and her father Frank migrate from town to town. Frank and Maren leave once more. Soon later, Maren turns 18 and her father leaves in the middle of the night, leaving her with money, a copy of her birth certificate, and a cassette recording. The way that director Luca Guadagnino uses extreme close-up, personal shots in this film to both create beautiful and horrifying moments is really brilliantly done.
