Description: A little child named Craig lives with his widowed father in the quiet village of Harlowe, Maine, in the year 2003. Following Craig’s sermon at church, Mr. Harrigan, a wealthy hermit in the community, approaches Craig and his father and offers Craig a job reading to him because Mr. Harrigan’s eyesight is failing. Over the course of the next five years, Craig reads a number of classic books to Mr. Harrigan. The two get close, and Mr. Harrigan sends Craig four envelopes every year containing scratch-off lottery tickets, one of which eventually pays out a $3,000 reward.
